Ayer viernes 14 fue nuestro último día de actividades. La primera actividad que realizamos fue el karaoke con los alumnos de cuarto de ESO. Les encantó y nos sorprendieron cantando un montón de canciones!!!
Después tuvo lugar el concurso de trabalenguas, con los alumnos de segundo de ESO, y también podemos decir que disfrutaron mucho con esta actividad.
Y ya para concluir, tuvimos una charla sobre el día de San Valentín, pero esta vez diferente a la de ayer. La segunda parte de esta actividad es más interactiva, pues se trataba de enfocarla como un taller de poesía, en el que el producto final es que los alumnos escribieran su propio poema en inglés para convertirlo así en una tarjeta de San Valentín. Se le dieron unas pautas para hacerles ver que la poesía puede ser algo sencillo y se repartieron en grupos para realizar los poemas. También se les entregaron corazones de cartulina pequeños en los que escribir sus poemas. De esta forma, es una actividad que les deja abierta su creatividad e imaginación.
Todas estas actividades, unas nuevas, otras más consolidadas, unas realizadas por el departamento o con ayuda de hablantes nativos, el caso es que cada año nos vamos con una buena sensación. Es mucho trabajo, pero todo esto merece la pena, pues supone ver a los estudiantes en un contexto fuera de la clase, y nos permite hacer tareas que en la clase casi siempre por falta de tiempo no realizamos. Todo esto no tendría sentido si los alumnos no aprendieran y se lo pasaran bien. Esperamos consolidarnos año tras año y….el año que viene…más y mejor!!!!
Yesterday, Friday the 14th was our last day of activities. The first activity we did was the karaoke with the students of 4th of ESO. They absolutely loved it and we were surprised to see them singing lots of songs!!!!
After that, our tongue twisters contest took place with the students of second of ESO, and we can also say that the students enjoyed this activity very much.
And to conclude, we also had a talk about Saint Valentine’s Day, but this time was different to the one of yesterday. The second part of this activity is more interactive, as we focused it like a poetry workshop, in which the final product is that the students write their own poem in English to write it down in a Valentine card. They were given some clues and steps to do it, to make them see that poetry can also be something simple and they were divided into groups to write the poems. They were also given small coloured paper hearts in which they could write their poems. In this way, it is an activity that encourages their imagination and their creativity.
All these activities, some of them new, some of them reinforced, either made by the members of the Department or with the help of native speakers, the thing is that every year, once we finish, we go home with a very good feeling. It implies a lot of work, but it is worthy, as this allows us to see the students in another context, outside the classroom, and they do tasks that they would not do in the classroom, most of the time because of the lack of time. None of these activities would make sense if the students did not learn and did not have fun. We hope to consolidate our English Speaking Week year after year and…next year…more and better!!!
